I bought my friend a car - Grande Merino Fingering - superwash merino 4ply yarn

10 items left

I bought my friend a car - hand-dyed variegated merino yarn in green, blue and red.

  • Base name - Grande Merino Fingering
  • Country of origin - South American wool spun in Peru
  • Fibre - 100% superwash Merino
  • Thickness - 4ply / fingering weight
  • Weight - 100 grams / 3.5oz
  • Length - 400 metres / 437 yards
  • Needle size - 2.25mm - 4mm
  • Washing guidance - machine washable at low temperatures but hand washing advised to preserve the vibrancy of the dye

Hand-dyed yarns are unique and each skein can have subtle differences. If using more than one skein, alternate skeins every few rows to blend the colours.

So the Countess has resisted bringing in a plied superwash merino fingering / 4ply for years because their heart is set on British yarn that is strong but still soft, plus they hate seeing people using the wrong yarn for the project.

Don't use this yarn for socks. If you choose to, don't come crying to us!

Merino is super soft and whilst it is perfect for projects that won't see much friction, such as that dream shawl you've always wanted to make, you'll get a couple of wears with this yarn as socks and then you'll be disappointed. You need nylon or a strong long-staple wool as the Countess advises in their blog post.

But all those other stunning projects in need of softness, crack on with those hooks and needles and enjoy this snuggly yarn.
