From 1st April 2019, 5% of our sales at www.countessablaze.com and in-store will be used as microloans on Kiva. Kiva is a worldwide project specialising in microfinancing small businesses and individuals who are locked out of accessing business aid from mainstream banks and organisations.
Microfinancing gives people an opportunity to begin businesses, or grow them and a number are textiles based. Textiles based loans will be our major interest but we'll also lend to others.
So you're in the market for sock yarn (this is me, I literally mean for sock knitting), that isn't superwash treated, doesn't contain nylon and gives you a high when you give it a good sniff. Introducing our new sock yarn Auntie Plastique ;)
Mohair is your nylon substitute here as it's tough as fuck due to a very long staple length. Grown, processed and spun by the fab folk at Laxtons in Yorkshire, dyed by the Countess and Blazin'Squad in Manchester city centre.
Country of Origin
Falkland wool and British mohair spun in the UK
50% Corriedale & 50% Mohair

Notes about hand dyed yarn
