Happy New Year to you all! As we've been relaxing more over December, this blog post got put on the back burner.
Saturnalia was, again, a huge success and events like these are successful because of the people who come so I'd like to thank each and every one of you who came and made this party what it was.
Saturnalia, the ancient Roman festival of light, tends to start at Casa Ablaze with a touch of knitting and crochet. Things are very civilised.
Then it becomes a rowdy festival as the food is served, the wine is drunk and Cards Against Humanity is played.
By lottery, aka who has different stuff in their swag bag, our Lord of Misrule was appointed. Emma dutifully fulfilled the role of keeping the festivities going as well as being able to command whatever she wanted. Dessert was definitely ordered, as was getting me to turn around skeins on the shelves so that they were the wrong way, very much a studio in-joke! She got to wear a fabulous handmade crown made by Alitzah Grant who helped with this year's preparations.
Importantly, we raised £600 for Mustard Tree, a Manchester charity who help the homeless and the marginalised.
Thank you very much to everybody who came. I hope your hangovers did not last too long!
