You can now visit the Countess Ablaze studio, oh yes you can! However, the studio is open to visitors on two days only - Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 6pm.
I'm bringing this up now because this week some lovely and enthusiastic knitterly folk have been venturing over when I'm dyeing yarn and I have turned them away, disappointed. Fridays and Saturdays are my dedicated non-dyeing days.
I have to have very firm boundaries about this, as much as it pains me because I'm very honoured that people want to take the time to visit. But I work alone, I am using chemicals and boiling water during my dyeing days. I wear a green dyed splattered boiler suit and my number one close shave is on full display - dyeing is not a time for wig wearing! It would be a health and safety (not to mention, insurance) nightmare seeing to customers whilst dyeing, it simply isn't possible. Even if I had staff, dye days are controlled chaos and the studio isn't completely tidy. Call me a primadonna but I cannot create or safety carry vessels of boiling dye if I am being interrupted.
So please, come over and visit, you are more than welcome; I'll even make you a coffee. But make it a Friday or a Saturday.
